HADAL ZONE

About Hadal Zone Ltd (“HZT”)

HZT is a private limited company which is poised to exploit the growing maritime marketplace and is focused around the production and commercialising of affordable high quality subsea cameras, landers, associated data and consultancy services.

There is a global need to sustainably use the oceans, whilst allowing offshore industries to thrive. To do this decision makers require the best available evidence, particularly in deeper, under-explored habitats. HZT is a new venture focused on making the whole ocean vertical accessible to all through either human or robotic exploration and bringing the deep sea to audiences through expert storytelling.

Our Mission: HZT provides the design and development and manufacture of specialist marine equipment. A prime focus is the production of bespoke

ocean landers for scientific research and marine exploration. HZT technologies are designed and tested to the highest standards, many of which are required to protect our products to withstand the extreme crushing pressures associated with extreme marine frontiers. HZT’s business model is to make the acquisition and interpretation of underwater imaging data far more accessible and efficient by reducing costs and time to acquire and analyse footage, irrespective of water depth. This has previously been prohibitive due to the high price of current camera systems, the need for large survey vessels to deploy them and manual data processing.

Market Overview

Visualization and analysis of subsea assets and aquaculture is becoming very important within the Subsea Internet of Things ecosystem (“SIoT”). The visualisation need has been recognised by Prof. Alan Jamieson’s subsea team, the creation and development of this new visualised SIoT ecosystem is required to solve big issues. Issues arising from the biology of decommissioning of oil & gas platforms or the exploitation of “small pools” in the North Sea to monitoring deep-water of pollution are good examples. The new business is poised to exploit the growing need to monitor biology of SIoT marketplace and is focused on commercialising and production of affordable underwater sensors and landers that can be used within a few metres to the Hadal zone (6km – 11km below the surface).

HZT products and services are therefore very relevant to the following sectors of the ocean economy:

  • Offshore oil and gas production

  • Decommissioning of offshore infrastructures

  • Aquaculture

  • Deep Sea Mining

  • TV documentaries

HZT key growth driver stems from the need to visually monitor industrial and ecological subsea operations and the importance of real-time data analytics. The product and services offered by HZT represent a paradigm shift in the development of subsea technologies, AI data analytics, and cost. We are uniquely placed to capitalise on two key components driving the growth of the ocean economy. Firstly, the development of Subsea Internet of Things (SIoT) and secondly advances in automated marine robotics. The latter has been highlighted by the UK Government as the most significant technological development in the sector.
